Processing Guidelines for Function Masterbatch

Temperature Control

Adjust processing temperature based on the melting point of the carrier resin to ensure uniform dispersion and prevent degradation.

Avoid overheating as this can cause additive volatilization or reduced shear, resulting in poor plasticization.

Mixing and Extrusion Parameters

Maintain consistent mix ratios to ensure target functionality without compromising mechanical properties.

The extruder should be run at 60-70% of its maximum speed to balance throughput and residence time to prevent underprocessing or material spillage.

Moisture Protection and Storage

Store masterbatch in a cool, dry environment with humidity below 60% to prevent agglomeration. Use sealed containers or desiccant if necessary.

Equipment Cleanliness

Clean extrusion machinery thoroughly between batches to avoid cross contamination. Use a copper brush or non-abrasive tool to prevent damage to the screw and barrel.

If changing colors or additives, run a purge through the system to remove residual material.

Monitor melt flow index (MFI) and viscosity during processing to ensure compatibility with the base resin.
